The wave of hurricanes and wild fires seen in 2017 have dealt a heavy hit to the construction industry. So reports Fox News.
The devastation brought about by these natural disasters, with immediate adjacency to major metro areas, is expected make building projects more time consuming and expensive. California is looking at over $1 billion in recovery from the wildfires.
Hurricane Harvey affected the Houston shoreline so extensively the area has lost elevation along the Gulf. Florida seems to be in perpetual recovery mode from storms, but Irma is affecting economics across industries that rely on different areas of the construction industry, including tourism, education, and medical. This may seem like opportune times for builders, but for those established in the industry, they’re seeing opportunists raising prices on everything from plywood to widgets.
