While a hard hat might save a worker’s life from a 25 foot fall or an accidental whack on the head by a moving beam or a co-worker's tool, crews are still at high risk for traumatic brain injury (TBI)/concussion. So reports Safety + Health Magazine.

According to the CDC, workers in small companies are more than 2.5 times likely than those in larger companies to die from a TBI. Age and gender also play a significant factor in both risk for, and recovery from, TBI. Certain segments of the industry have greater risk than others, such as roofing. It’s important to learn as much as possible about the protection offered by different types of hard hats.
