Haunted Construction Sites, Serial Killers and Black Bears—Oh, My!

Among the shadows of steel beams, there lurks an eeriness at construction sites, especially at those ‘betwixt' times when—so the lore says—spirits walk the border between this world and the Great Beyond.

In reality, it’s not so uncommon for construction crews to unearth unusual and unexpected items in the course of excavating or even building on a worksite. We uncovered some spooky construction stories that might make you want think twice before walking a jobsite alone. Oh, and if you want to profit from a haunting, we’ve got a resource for that, too.

Childhood Home of Serial Killer Ted Bundy

Last October a contractor in Washington was hired to renovate the house of infamous serial killer, Ted Bundy. Initially, the crew did not know the history of the house (or so they claimed), according to Construction Junkie

Electronics malfunctioned without explanation. Extension cords would get unplugged. Furniture fell over when no one was in the house. And messages reading “leave” and “help me” appeared in the drywall dust on floors and windows.

Child’s Casket Found on CA Home Renovation Site

There was nothing unusual about the job in Rossi Park, San Francisco: renovate a woman’s childhood home. When crews got under the garage floor, they found a casket of a little girl who was believed to have been buried 120 years ago. So reports The Los Angeles Times.

Locals believe the remains were left behind when the Odd Fellows Cemetery was relocated by order of the city of San Francisco. The homeowner could not get a burial permit for the remains; the city basically left her with the remains of the dead child until an organization Garden of Innocence stepped in to research her true identity and provide proper burial. That was last year; earlier this year, the girl was identified.

While in the home, crews and the homeowner reported hearing a child running through or playing in the house. Even after work was completed and the body was properly identified and relocated, the owners still here a child in the house.

Rats, Bears and Anaconda’s!

While demolishing concrete in Brazil, workers unearthed hundreds of rats that rushed out from under every block of concrete, according to Construction Junkie.

Meanwhile, a construction crew made a video of a 33-foot long anaconda that slithered out from debris after a cave was blown-up during prep work on a dam in northern Brazil. So reports The Daily Mail.

Rats may not make your bones tingle, and maybe you're not likely to encounter anacondas on your job site, but bears on a construction site may very well be a factor in the U.S. Two Tennessee workers discovered, their lunch isn’t safe even if it’s kept inside a van! So reports NBC.
