AEC Tech Revolution: Think Before You Adopt That App

Technology is stirring a revolution in the way architects, engineers and construction managers and crews plan and perform their projects. So reports Construction Dive.

But just because the latest technology is at your fingertips doesn’t mean you need it or should implement it in a project. There are times when technology, including mobile applications, might be a liability to a project. At the recent CMAA Conference and Trade Show, Larry Ruddell, president of the Global Institute for Ethical Leadership and dean of faculty at Belhaven University illustrated the ethical issues that can surface with some types of technology, such as facial recognition software and drones.

Additionally, companies would be wise to standardize the mobile applications that crews use in-house and at job sites to ensure safety of personnel as well as continuity and security of data.
