PennEast Pipeline’s Fate Hangs in the Balance

The PennEast Pipeline Co.’s federal approval to begin construction of an underground pipeline from Pennsylvania to New Jersey is set to expire Jan. 19, but construction is still on hold as a permit fight is expected to head the U.S. Supreme Court. So reports Lehigh Valley Live.

supreme court 546279 1920Further, the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission was petitioned by a consortium of gas companies to extend the deadline to complete the project to Jan. 19, 2022. “Today, PennEast continues to pursue permits under the National Historic Preservation Act in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, as well as Clean Water Act approval still needed in New Jersey,” according to the article.
