ABC, JLG Industries Partner to Drive Industry Innovation

Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) and access equipment manufacturer JLG Industries utilized the trade group’s lobbying week to announce a new strategic partnership aimed at sparking cutting edge equipment advancements, according to ABC.

The announcement came during Legislative Week 2018, where more than 500 ABC members went to Washington, D.C., to meet with congressional leaders and top administrative officials including President Donald Trump, Senior Advisor to the President Ivanka Trump and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin. Representative from the organization tackled topics ranging from regulatory relief, tax reform and workforce development,in addition to rolling out details about its new strategic partnership with JLG Industries.

The ABC drew high praise from Mick Mulvaney, director of the Office of Management and Budget, when he touted the “resiliency and creativity of ABC members” along with other business owners for their willingness to reinvest in their organizations, according to ABC. The apex of the lobbying effort was the group’s Legislative Day, Wednesday, June 27.

The trade group’s partnership with JLG will address issues facing industry professionals through “world-class education, training and equipment solutions,” according ABC. “ABC and JLG are committed to continual innovation to ensure ABC members using JLG tools and equipment have what they need to tackle any job—safely and productively,” said Michael D. Bellaman, ABC president and chief executive officer. “In collaboration with ABC members, JLG will receive feedback to further develop state-of-the-art products and training solutions that will help our members develop people, win work and deliver that work safely, ethically and profitably.”

The arrangement with JLG will allow it to receive critical input from ABC members, which will ultimately drive innovation, said Frank Nerenhausen, president of JLG Industries. “Our strategic partnership with ABC will allow us to work closely with the association’s members to further advance the access industry,” said Nerenhausen. “Direct feedback from those who own and operate aerial lifts inspires us to continue the pioneering spirit upon which JLG was founded nearly 50 years ago.”

JLG’s parent company, the Oshkosh Corporation, recently saw its president and CEO, Wilson Jones, win a Glassdoor Employees’ Choice Award, which honors industry leaders. Jones approval rating, generated from voluntary reviews from within the organization, was 93%.

“Wilson’s leadership and vision for strategic growth are felt organization wide,” said Nerenhausen. “The entire JLG team congratulates him on this well-earned and deserved recognition."

The Oshkosh Corporation also enjoyed being named a Glassdoor 2018 Best Place to Work, a Military Friendly Employer and was also given the designation of one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies, according to information from JLG.

The rest of 2018 Legislative Week featured the ABC Young Professionals Symposium, the Free Enterprise Alliance reception, and the ABC’s Legal Conference, which featured speakers Marvin E. Kaplan, of the National Labor Relations Board and Nicholas C. Geale, chief of staff to the secretary of U.S. Department of Labor, according to information from the ABC.
