The study was funded by FEMA, and shows that for every $1 spent, an average of $6 is saved from things like post-disaster recovery, healthcare, and effects on the economy. Mitigation measures allow businesses to remain operational, which keeps people working, and also protects the area around the building. Mitigation plans implemented can create new long-term jobs, too.
