Lawmakers Consider One-of-a-Kind Timber Law, Pass New Mandate

Washington state lawmakers passed a law requiring the building code council to develop rules regarding the use of mass timber in residential and commercial construction. So reports Construction Dive.

The new law, recently signed by Gov. Jay Inslee, mandates officials consider upcoming changes to the International Building Code with respect to timber buildings up to 18 stories high. Washington lawmakers are also considering a bill to require the use of cross-laminated timber in public buildings 12 stories or smaller.
