At the March 2016 Safety Summit, the NWRA shared its three-year safety strategy to measurably improve overall safety performance for the industry and its workers. So reports Construction & Demolition Recycling.
To achieve its long-term goal of eliminating industry fatalities, the organization set a 3-year objective for a 50% reduction in fatalities across all sectors of the industry, not just NWRA members. Objectives within the strategy were developed in collaboration with safety experts from within and outside the waste and recycling industry.
Other objectives include moving collection off the top-10 most dangerous list through improvements in education and training; implementing plans to reduce distracted driving; and collaborating with other organizations to leverage efforts in improving safety.
