In response to rising levels of nitrogen dioxide that testing has attributed to idling construction vehicles, New Jersey police can now issue penalties for idling infractions. So reports Stopthesoot.org.

Failing to follow idling standards may lead to enforcement actions and civil fines, starting at $250 per day, for the property owner and the vehicle/equipment operator, according to an advisory from the N.J. Department of Environmental Protection advisory. There are many health hazards associated with vehicle emissions. The DEP advisory includes tips for preventing idling of construction vehicles including automatic shutdowns.
