Massachusetts construction company Force Corp. was fined $837,341 for violating state law and making illegal deductions from its employees’ paychecks. So reports Banker and Tradesman.

The attorney general’s office handed down two civil citations and accused the company of cheating construction workers out of hundreds of thousands of dollars. The attorney general’s office started its investigation after the New England Regional Council of Carpenters passed along complaints from workers to the Fair Labor Division of the AG's office.

Force Corp. was accused of unlawfully taking deductions for, among other things, tools, discipline and safety equipment and apparently forced employees to buy tools from another company owned by one of its managers.
