U.S. construction spending was up 0.1% in August despite sluggish home and non-residential building activity. So reports The Journal Gazette.
Government spending largely drove gains, according to the Commerce Department, although seasonally adjusted spending dipped below May's record high. The annual rate is now $1.32 trillion. Public construction was up 2% and is now at its highest level since July of 2009.
