Uniformity in construction contractor licensing procedures varies widely from state-to-state, which is unlike other licensed professions such as real estate or law. So reports Construction Dive.

The regulations, which vary across the nation, can make it either all too easy or extremely difficult to obtain a construction contractor license. Some states (e.g. Texas) don’t have a system with the exception of trades where public safety is an issue (fire, roofing, electrical).

Other states, such as Florida are highly aggressive in their standards and the reasons for stricter standards also can vary across states. The impact of too lax or too stringent requirements can affect business financing, insurance, hiring, and expenses.
