With public interest in green living on the rise, building owners are taking note of how green construction/enhancements of their buildings can affect the bottom line.
A new SmartMarket Report by Dodge Data & Analytics, in partnership with Delos, indicates that along with owners, developers, both managers and investors in the U.S. have become increasingly interested in creating healthier buildings. The report shows there has been industry-wide adoption of “healthy building” practices that emphasize the physical, mental and social well-being of tenants and occupants.
The study also finds that the owners of such buildings see business benefits from healthier building construction, including increased leasing rates and higher asset values. The top five healthier building features currently in use are better lighting/daylight exposure, thermal comfort enhancements, spaces for increased social interaction, enhanced air quality products, and products that improve acoustics.
