An international project lead by researchers as the University of England aims to reduce occupational injuries and illnesses in the construction industry. So reports Phys.org.

The focus of the project is a new tool that will allow architectural and engineering firms to assess and improve their ability to develop designs that are inherently safer for contractors to build and maintain.

Design-related issues are a significant contributor to accidents occurring both during construction works and afterwards. “Design for Safety” and “Prevention through Design” are becoming major initiatives around the world.
