60% of Construction Workers Say Management Views Safety As Less Important Than Productivity

A recent study of Employee Perceptions of Workplace Safety indicates that employees in high-risk industries, including construction, are choosing job-related productivity over their own health and safety.

The study, published in June of this year by the National Safety Council, surveyed 2,000 employees across the nation. The results indicate that 60% of construction employees feel that “employers do only the necessary minimum required by law to keep employees safe” and they put safety “in the backseat” relative to “completion of job related tasks.”
