It makes sense to think that construction crews working on tall buildings are at greater potential risk for injury and other hazards compared to crews on low-height buildings. But, that's not exactly the case in NYC where less stringent regulations for buildings under 10 stories are resulting in injuries and even deaths at job sites. So reports the Commercial Observer.
A 2016 report from the Real Estate Board of NY identified several factors contributing to this. For example, NYC building code does not require specific safety plans or training for workers and current law only requires a part-time super to be onsite for one inspection and walk-through per day.
