Heidelberg Village in Germany is the world’s largest passive house settlement under the construction leadership of sustainable architect Wolfgang Frey.

In his unconventional approach, Frey meets not just with engineers and construction workers on a regular basis, he dedicates considerable time to meeting with future residents. Frey wants to deeply understand what is important to people and what they need their living space to provide.

The result is an utterly unique approach to sustainable, custom design of the Village apartments and the urban district in which they are planned. It also creates a strong affinity between residents and their living place, establishing a strong sense of personal responsibility for their living space and surrounding area.
