Avanti Building Consultants president, Richard Marini, promised to deploy highly-trained safety experts to construction sites in the NYC financial district, Gramercy Park, and on the Upper East Side.
They were touted as the crème of the crop, with an impressive list of specialized credentials providing support for inspections related to engineering; architectural; environmental; Local Law 11 Inspections; scaffold Inspection; site safety, hazardous waste, noise and vibration…and the list went on. On the contrary, these “specialists” were discovered to have been anything but. So reports The Jewish Voice.
Instead, Avanti had hired and coached hairdressers; short-order cooks; bellhops; amateur interior designers, musicians, a slue of others unqualified folks to impersonate inspectors of various types to conduct phony inspections. NYC’s Department of Investigation and the New York County District Attorney’s Office found that between 2012 and 2014, Avanti and NYCB Engineering Group falsified hundreds of documents, ultimately wreaking havoc at scores of multi-million-dollar construction sites all over Manhattan.
