Researchers in China are exploring window-compatible materials that both block unneeded sun rays and generate electricity using see-through solar cells. So reports Techxplore.

The scientists had to balance letting in some light, blocking heat and collecting energy simultaneously. Since it is responsible for a lot of heat, the windows blocks infrared rays. The solar cells could cut household reliance on the need for external electricity by more than 50%.
