Airports, dams, subways—oh, my!

Around the world, construction projects of all types are getting bigger. Topping out the list of 10 of the world’s largest construction projects is Al Maktoum Airport in Dubai, boasting 21 square miles for handling 200 wide-body aircraft at one time.

In Jabail II, Saudi Arabia, a 22-year project to revitalize industrial plants, railways, road and highways, and an oil refinery is now in phase II and set for completion in 2024. Going out of this world to the International Space Station, the contemplated expansion is expected to exceed $1 trillion while providing habitat for up to 1 million occupants.
