In the last six months, New York City issued 88,838 construction permits setting a new record. So reports amNewYork.

The previous high was set last spring and summer. The article cites data that shows the midtown section of Manhattan below Central Park has seen the most construction activity.

Some have voiced concerns about overdevelopment and noise, though, stemming from the increased construction activity. Further, to help modernize the city’s Department of Buildings, a new interactive feature including maps and graphics detailing new alterations, demolitions and buildings was recently launched.

The new feature is expected to improve efforts to get city inspectors in areas with increased injuries and issues.
